beautiful voice and eclectic music - I bought this record when it was first released and it still is an outstanding record. When Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel parted ways after the masterpiece A BRIDIGE OVER TROUBLED WATER, everyone knew Paul Simon would continue his successful singing and songwriting career. Art Garfunkel was experienting with acting and after awhile he must have thought I will try to make a record without my old friend. The result showcases Garfunkel s angelic voice and a list of diverse songs from Randy Newman to Jimmy Webb to Van Morrison to traditional folk and even country. It all adds up to a very satisfying record. I stiil don t know why it is titled ANGEL CLARE, but it doesn t really matter.

Angel Clare Revisited - I owned Angel Clare on a record (large, round slab of vinyl with a hole in the centre)years ago and decided to revisit it. Much to my surprise, I am re-discovering and enjoying the folky harmonies of Art Garfunkel all over again.

The Best by the Best - One of Art s best albums. Worth it alone for Traveling Boy,All I Know, and Another Lullaby, with everything else a bonus. A pure voice performs an almost perfect album of music.

Angel Clare - I am extremely happy with this product and how quickly I received my order.Kudos to the seller! Sue

Great Singing / Good (and sometimes goofy) Songs - This is probably Art s best album, although Breakaway is just as strong an effort, especially in terms of its songs being memorable and sticking with you long after the album has ended. His singing and the quality of the arrangements on Angel Clare are impeccable. The song choices, on the other hand, are typically eclectic, which is a polite way of saying, What were you thinking when you chose THAT one, Artie? Including the Feuilles-Oh song, for instance, kind of vindicates Paul Simon s decision to have it removed from the Bridge Over Troubled Water album -- sure, it s a nice enough song, and Art sings it well, but what the heck is it all about? Same thing with all the random folk ballads about dead and/or murderous lovers. All I Know is the unquestioned highlight to this album, and its inclusion, along with Traveling Boy and I Shall Sing and Old Man, give this album the weight and the sustained power that only Breakaway can match. Ominously, though, this album closes out with Another Lullaby, a song so slowly paced that you could almost call it a dirge, and which foreshadows many of the similarly dirgelike songs that would begin appearing with alarming frequency on his albums. There s no way I can give this album the same 5 stars I would give to, say, Bridge Over Troubled Water or There Goes Rhymin Simon, to name two much stronger 5-star efforts from a similar period. But just because this album isn t an all-time classic like those two (or Bookends, or Graceland, or Still Crazy After All These Years) doesn t negate how great Art sang all these songs (goofy though some of them might be).
